Yell to the World · 向世界呐喊

Screaming into the void

You know the feeling: you say something, and it goes nowhere. So we built the void.

Type one line and send it. It flies across the sky, over the Earth. If someone is there, they can see it — and they may yell back. If no one is, it drifts off into the void, where old yells float by for whoever turns up later.

So it isn't quite nowhere. And every so often, the void replies.

Questions people ask

What happens to my yell if nobody is here?

It drifts into the void. When the sky is quiet, old yells float by there, dim — so someone who turns up later may still come across yours.

Will anyone answer?

Maybe. Whoever is here can reply to a yell, and sometimes someone does. Sometimes nobody is here, and your yell drifts in the void for whoever comes by later. We can't promise an answer.

Who can see my yell?

Whoever is here when it flies across the sky. Later it can drift by in the void, and it can appear on the page for the day it was yelled — so treat it as public. When the sky is very busy, a free yell may drift instead of flying.

Is it really anonymous?

Yes. You don't give a name, an email or a phone number, and we don't look up where you are. Other people see your words beside a number and the flag you chose. Anonymous isn't private, though: what you yell is public. The privacy notice has the details.
